MEETING RESOLUTIONS/PMG/MESSAGE TO RMA

Saturday, March 24th, 2007

Local 47 Colleagues,

There is so much going on concerning our Local and it’s future that it’s hard to know where to begin. The rank and file is facing attacks from outside and inside the Local. Please take the time to read the entire mailing. It is important you understand some of what’s going on.

This is a rather long edition, but the most important message from this mailing is to be at the April 23rd meeting at the Local. The voice of the rank and file membership is at stake.

THE COMMITTEE

——–

I. THE RESOLUTIONS
-Proxies are coming
-Resolution I – VOTE NO!
-Resolution II – VOTE NO!
-Resolution III – VOTE NO!
-Bait and Switch

II. THE GUILD
-Some questions
-Conflict of Interest

III. A MESSAGE TO THE NON-ELITE RMA
-Think about it!
-Don’t vote against your own best interests

PROXIES LASLEY AND SAZER THREATEN RANK AND FILE’S VOICE

I. THE RESOLUTIONS

The last time the Administration engineered a rise in the quorum to 100 what followed was over two years with NO MEETINGS, a rash of firings of the most valuable people for the rank and file membership and the gutting of rank and file member services unlike anything this local has seen in decades.

Last year, we fought back and regained our voice, lowering the quorum back to 50 and putting in a resolution guaranteeing the members voices will be heard by the board whether there is a quorum at a meeting or not.

The administration has fought every step of the way, and the RMA did not like their supremacy of control of the voices in our Local challenged.

Then came the last election and though a valiant effort was made to give our Local a new start with an administration not addled by special interests, some members of the RMA marched into the local as a unit and re-installed the same crew.

FMA MESSAGE/LAWRENCE LETTER/COMPETITION/COMMENTS

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

I. MESSAGE FROM THE FMA
II. LETTER FROM NANCY LAWRENCE
III. TOWNHOUSE w/ADDED STUDIO SPACE AVAILABLE
IV. ROTARY CLUB COMPETITION INFORMATION
V. MEMBERS COMMENTS

Greetings Local 47 Colleagues,

The upcoming general membership meeting on April 23rd will be the most important meeting since we, the rank and file, lowered the quorum to 50. Gary Lasley from the Espinosa Slate (and currently standing in for Serena as Secretary), along with Marc Sazer, vice president of the RMA, have submitted resolutions to nullify every advance the membership has made to protect their voice. You can check them out in your current Overture.

A year ago it took an extraordinary effort and unprecedented turn-out of members at a regular membership meeting to undo the impossibly high (100) quorum number that had lead to not having membership meeting for over two years! Now Sazer and Lasley want to raise the quorum number not to 100, but to an outrageous 170! If this would happen it again would assure a virtual lockout of membership input at the Local.

MORE RS WEBSITE TROUBLE/SELA INFO/CONCERT/COMMENTS

Tuesday, February 6th, 2007

Dear Local 47 Colleagues,

It’s been a busy week and we’re preparing a number of stories about our Local that you will find very interesting, and many disturbing. Oh the tangled web we weave…..

Please voice your opinions, pro or con, anytime. Keep reading, Stay informed, only then are you in a position to help improve our Local.

THE COMMITTEE

I. REFERRAL SERVICE WEBSITE? Oops! Back to square one…
II. MESSAGE ABOUT SELAS FROM FMALA PRESIDENT
III. BILLY MITCHELL CONCERT THIS WEEK
IV. COMMENTS

I. REFERRAL SERVICE WEBSITE? Oops!! Back to square one…

It seems the website design for the much touted, bragged about and anticipated “Referral Service Website” was so faulty, either through a Web Designer whose “skill set” wasn’t appropriate or bad direction from the Local, that it has had to be scrapped and the process begun all over again.

OUR ELECTION BOARD NEEDS PROTECTION!

OUR ELECTION BOARD NEEDS PROTECTION!

Our Local 47 Election Board has been under attack since our
Local 47 election last month. Why? A contingent of the special interest group that thinks they own OUR Local, and who are allied with the Espinosa Administration, could not stand that David Schubach beat out all their candidates for the most votes in the Delegate Category of the Local 47 Election.

A NEW LOW

Monday, December 11th, 2006

IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY, YOU SHOULD SHORTLY RECEIVE A RESPONCE IN THE FORM OF A LETTER FROM LOCAL 47 MEMBER CHARLES FERNANDEZ.

In fact, Here is what we just sent out….

Hal and Company hit a new low

This letter just arrived from member Charles Fernandez. We agree with everything here wholeheartedly!

CLEAN HOUSE TOMORROW!

Fellow Local 47 members,

Just as we thought we were at the end of the election campaign, Hal, out of desperation, hits a new low.

Violating Campaign Law?
This thing about David violating the campaign law is a laugh. I was at the local when these “violations of law” took place. BEFORE David was a candidate, he was collecting signatures in the lobby. Serena came out to say it was a violation of campaign law to campaign on the premises. David had to remind this 22 year employee that he was NOT YET A CANDIDATE, and since he was not yet a candidate, he couldn’t be campaigning, he was collecting signatures to BECOME a candidate. Therefore, by LAW, collecting signatures was perfectly fine.

INDEPENDENT SLATE/CLEANING HOUSE/ABSENTEE BALLOTS

Friday, November 3rd, 2006

Greetings Local 47 Brothers and Sisters,

We’ve had several members write asking specifics about why we
feel it is so vital to vote for the independent “David Schubach”
slate. Though this will not be our only response, we’d like to
send our thoughts along as food for thought.

Firstly, you should check out www.davidschubach.com and read
the candidate’s statements.

I. WHO ARE THE INDEPENDENT SLATE
II. WHY WE NEED TO CLEAN HOUSE!
III. NO MONEY CRUNCH
IV. SEND IN YOUR ABSENTEE BALLOT REQUEST NOW!

I. WHO ARE THE INDEPENDANT SLATE AND WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR THEM!

The slate that David has put together has the leadership skills
that this Local needs to confront the particular areas members
need at this point in time.

V. GOING TO BE TRAVELING OVERSEAS?

I. THE FUTURE OF OUR LOCAL

Greetings Local 47 Brothers and Sisters,

If our local is to survive and become the local the vast majority of us needs it to be, and the local we deserve; and the local our dues pay for, we desperately need a changing of the guard. We need a new administration concerned with the common good for the majority, not the common good of the minority whose interests are already covered elsewhere.

Those who consider themselves solely recording musicians have their champion in the RMA. It is well past time that the concerns of our local shift back to the needs of the other 6,600 members: the Teachers, Casual, Symphonic and Theater players who more than deserve this locals’ assistance, dedication and attention. We are not getting that now, nor will we in the future with this administration, in the opinion of the Committee and those we’ve asked, judging on their previous actions.

It’s time for change, it’s time to clean house and WE NOW HAVE A TICKET WE CAN VOTE FOR!

These people represent every area of our business (Recording, Symphonic, Theater, Casuals, Touring, Negotiations and Teaching) and are the key to our Local’s future!

FAKE ACCOUNT REPORT PRINTED IN OVERTURE

Fake Account report printed in the Overture

Greetings Local 47 Colleagues!,

The report given at the July meeting has been printed in the August Overture and should still be on the website. While it’s a long read we suggest you take a look.

The highlights?

1)The Creator of the fake e-mail account was the ex-office manager, who happened to have been later fired when it came to light that he was a felon who should have never worked at OUR local to begin with.

2)The Account was paid for by President Espinosa’s UNION business credit card.

3)During the ex-office manager’s interview with Local Counsel Lewis Levy, he said that PRESIDENT ESPINOSA had authorized the creation of that e-mail account.

4)President Espinosa denied it..

August Committee mailing material….

GREETINGS LOCAL 47 COLLEAGUES!,

We’ve had some interesting comments and commentary from a variety of subjects and perspectives from the July meeting; to our Health Plan and a remembrance of Earl Williams; not to mention a return of the OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN GUY! He certainly never disappoints.

Do you have anything concerning you about the future of our Local? Let us know!

THE COMMITTEE FOR A MORE RESPONSIBLE LOCAL 47

….and now the Comments:

Hi: I want to thank you for your honest and comprehensive recap of the meeting. It is quite complete and honestly reported. Your minutes should be the ones in the overture!

However, I wanted to write my note very quickly, as I have many things to do, today, and have not finished reading your full report.
