I. THE FUTURE OF OUR LOCAL

Greetings Local 47 Brothers and Sisters,

If our local is to survive and become the local the vast majority of us needs it to be, and the local we deserve; and the local our dues pay for, we desperately need a changing of the guard. We need a new administration concerned with the common good for the majority, not the common good of the minority whose interests are already covered elsewhere.

Those who consider themselves solely recording musicians have their champion in the RMA. It is well past time that the concerns of our local shift back to the needs of the other 6,600 members: the Teachers, Casual, Symphonic and Theater players who more than deserve this locals’ assistance, dedication and attention. We are not getting that now, nor will we in the future with this administration, in the opinion of the Committee and those we’ve asked, judging on their previous actions.

It’s time for change, it’s time to clean house and WE NOW HAVE A TICKET WE CAN VOTE FOR!

These people represent every area of our business (Recording, Symphonic, Theater, Casuals, Touring, Negotiations and Teaching) and are the key to our Local’s future!

THE COMMITTEE WHOLEHEARTEDLY ENDORSES,….

For the survival and future of our local we must elect the entire
INDEPENDENT SLATE COMMITTEE

President and Delegate
DAVID SCHUBACH

Vice President and Delegate
PETER QUESADA

TRUSTEES and DELEGATES
LISA HALEY
ALAN VAVRIN

DIRECTORS
DAVID GARFIELD
TOM GRIFFIN
HARRIET KATZ
Dr. BOBBY RODRIGUES

In an earlier offering we told you that there were a couple of those on the present board who’s priorities seem to be in the right place. They have declined to be endorsed here and we respect their wishes. If you go over those on the board and their histories it shouldn’t be to hard to gleen who could be an asset for the future of our local and the interests of the rank and file.

We’ll have much more about the individuals of the Independent Slate over the next few weeks!

II. HOW TO TAKE PART IN A HISTORIC ELECTION!

THE ELECTION IS DECEMBER 12th, 2006!

Please make the time to come down and vote in person on December 12th!

To assist in your ability to take part in this historic election, and election where we can elect a board that can repair our relations with other locals, our own members and even the national, every mailing from now until the election will have a PDF of the absentee ballot attached. Please download and use this PDF if you think you won’t be able to make it to the Local on December 12th.

THE ELECTION IS LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AWAY!, so please send in your Absentee ballot request now to make sure you can get it and return it in time!

III. DON’T SPLIT THE VOTE!

If you look at the current Overture, you will notice that there is a three way race for Vice-President. It is vital that the vote not be split and while we have the utmost respect for the 3rd person running, they are running by themselves and changing one spoke in this wheel simply will not help! We need to vote for a complete ticket so we can truly have a fresh start! Please cast your vote for the entire Independent Ticket!

II. DON’T FORGET MONDAY’S MEETING!

The last Membership meeting before the election is THIS MONDAY, October 23rd, 2006 at the Local. Please come participate in your local, make your voice heard!

III. GOING TO BE TRAVELING OUT OF THE COUNTRY?

Have you checked the expiration date on your Passport lately? If it’s anywhere near close to expiring, you better take steps NOW to get a new birth certificate. Since 911, the paper they use for birth certificates has changed, and should you lose your passport and try to replace it using your old BC you will be denied, according to a member who just went through this ordeal.

You must obtain a new copy of your birth certificate on the new paper for it to be valid for the issuing of a passport. Photocopies will not do, you need a NEW BC on the NEW paper.

If you were to lose you passport then get a gig overseas in the next few weeks, you will not have time to replace it.

Until next time!,

THE COMMITTEE FOR A MORE RESPONSIBLE LOCAL 47
