GREETINGS LOCAL 47 COLLEAGUES!,

If this is the first time you are receiving our mailing,
welcome! The COMMITTEE is made up of members of
Local 47 concerned with the Local’s direction and the
future for all our members. We exist to inform our fellow
members what the Local 47 administration doesn‘t
necessarily want you to know and also acts as a forum
for members to express their opinions anonymously,
free of any fear of retribution from the present power
structure. If you have concerts, we’ll advertise them for
you at no charge.

CAPITOL STUDIOS UPDATE – May 12, 2008

The hearing that was set for Tuesday, May 13th has been moved to
Early June. More details to come soon.

—————-

BACKGROUND OF THE CAPITOL STUDIOS SITUATION

A developer intends to build an underground garage
next door to the famed Capitol Studios in Hollywood.
Acoustic experts have determined that construction would
certainly affect short-term and possibly long-term use of
the historic studios, and the planned garage will be only
20-25 feet from Capitol’s irreplaceable, Les Paul-designed
underground echo chambers. Capitol/EMI are appealing to
a City Council Committee called PLUM.

GREETINGS COLLEAGUES!

I. READ PRESIDENT ESPINOSA’S COLUMN THIS MONTH?

President Espinosa has taken up the mantle of RMA
mouthpiece again. The majority of his column talks
about how there should be only one video game
agreement, and that those who do the sessions
should be the ones to do the negotiations.

GREETINGS COLLEAGUES!

I. THE MEETING ON APRIL 28th
Our recent general membership meeting showed that Democracy
is alive and well in our Local. Far, far more alive than when the
COMMITTEE was formed (We hadn’t had meetings in over 2 years).
It also showed that whoever has the bodies has the votes. This is
not unique and every organization can say the same, as long as
its the MEMBERS who make the decisions and not the board,
we’re far more satisfied.
