I. PREMATURE SELF-CONGRATULATION
II. NOT EVERYTHING IS A CONSPIRACY – TAFT HARTLEY LETTERS
III. MORE MISDIRECTION FROM LOCAL 47 – FI CORE CONTRACT FILING
IV. CONCERT ANNOUNCEMENT
V. READER COMMENTS

Greetings Colleagues!

Please put the next General Membership meeting on your calendar.
It’s on Monday October 22nd at 7 PM. We understand there will be
refreshments served, so come early and enjoy!
Since the RMA has had five meetings before our October 22nd meeting,
we will need you there to help protect the rank and file voice, should
it become necessary.

THE COMMITTEE

—————-

I. PREMATURE SELF-CONGRATULATION

Did you get President Espinosa’s latest? The Local 47 email reporting
on how they stopped the New Era scoring session?

Last week Mr. Espinosa, Mr. Trombetta and the RMA leadership
were so busy patting each other on the back that they didn’t notice the
NES session went on as scheduled, albeit in a different location.

INDIE DATE CORRECTION/FI-CORE/RS REMOVAL/AFM VIDEO GAMES INCREASE/EVENTS

September 16th, 2007

I. INDIE CONFERENCE DATE CORRECTION: OCTOBER 5-7!
II. FI-CORE MUSICIANS RIGHTS – LOCAL 47 REHEARSALS
III. BOARD STILL PLANNING ON REFERAL LOCATION REMOVAL.
IV. AFM Captures Greater Share of Video Game Market
V. SPOTLIGHT AWARDS APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE
VI. EVENTS AND SEMINARS

=============

I. INDIE CONFERENCE DATE CORRECTION: OCTOBER 5-7! NOT FEBRUARY!

In our previous offering we erroneously reported that the upcoming
OCTOBER 5-7 Independent Music Conference was in February.
The text of the section was correct, the heading, reporting Feb. 5-7
as the dates was wrong.

The INDIE MUSIC CONFERENCE will be held at Local 47, OCTOBER
5-7, 2007!

We apologize for the incorrect dates of the previous mailing.

=============

II. FI-CORE MUSICIAN RIGHTS – LOCAL 47 REHEARSALS

We’ve been contacted by several very concerned musicians about
their jobs being affected by Espinosa Administration policies.
That is ironic, since it’s the Espinosa Administration policies and
conduct that drove many musicians to choose fi-core status
to begin with.

VIDEO GAME HISTORY/802 PRESIDENT ARTICLE/INDIE MUSIC/COMMENTS

I. VIDEO GAME MUSIC HISTORY: CLEARING THE AIR

We asked the AFM if they had done any research into the history
of this video game/recording in America situation. As it turns out,
they had, sometime before the last Convention. Certainly, since
the letters AFM appear in it the true-believers of the RMALA will
say it is bunk, but for anyone who is not an ideologue this should
be instructive and enlightening. And it will pretty much set the
record straight. Whenever you get the lock step propaganda from
the RMA, hand them this article and tell them to get educated.

We will have some comments at the conclusion of the report.

I. ROPA RESOLUTION RE: PASADENA POPS
II. FREE CONCERT BY MEMBERS OF THE PASADENA POPS THIS SUNDAY!
III. MORE VIDEO GAME INFO
IV. UPCOMING MEMBER CONCERTS AND NEWS
V. READER COMMENTS

Greetings Local 47 Colleagues!

We’ve received copies of the ROPA resolution concerning the Pasadena
Pops from many directions in the last few days: the Local, members
of the Pasadena Pops themselves and even the RMA.

The Local stated in their mailing a couple of days ago that they support
the ROPA resolution. Well, who wouldn’t? The fact is the Local 47
administration did little until members started making waves and going
to the press.

I. July 23rd’ MEMBERSHIP MEETING
II. FMA REPORT
III. UPDATE ON PASADENA POPS SITUATION
IV. UPCOMING MEMBER CONCERTS AND NEWS
V. MEMBER COMMENTS

Greetings Local 47 Colleagues!,

July 23rd’s Local 47 meeting turned out to be somewhat
helpful for the rank and file of our Local though the main
thrust of the night was a venting session for the RMALA
leadership and their supporters, having been dealt another
blow at the last AFM Convention.

CHANGES FOR THE BETTER

The COMMITTEE’S activism here at home, along with the
actions of the FMA and a more involved rank and file, are
starting to affect some changes,

NEW PASADENA POPS PLAYER COMMITTEE/FILMMUSIC EVENT A SUCCESS/COMMENTS

July 20th, 2007

Greetings Colleagues!,

I. PASADENA POPS ELECTS NEW PLAYER COMMITTEE
II. RECENT FILM MUSIC WEEKLY EVENT CONSIDERED A SUCCESS
III. MEMBER COMMENTS

Colleagues!,

Don’t forget the General Membership Meeting on July 23rd! We need
your participation to make sure our Local represents all of us! The meeting
starts at 7pm. Don’t be late!

At the AFM Convention, representatives of the committee were frankly
surprised and encouraged by how far and wide our e-mails were being distributed throughout the federation. From big and small locals, we received encouragement to continue pressing for a union that works for all its members
and for accountability of its officers. We found that the issues we deal with
in Los Angeles are shared by many locals around the federation.

If you are receiving this mailing second- or third-hand, and wish to be added
to the mailing list, reply to: [email protected].

The COMMITTEE

I. PASADENA POPS ELECTS NEW PLAYER COMMITTEE

Members of the Pasadena Pops showed up at Local 47 on Monday, July 2nd,
to vote for the Orchestral Committee that will take part in the negotiations
between the Pasadena Symphony, Pasadena Pops and Local 47. At stake are
the jobs of 65 musicians in the Pasadena Pops. Initially described as a merger
(much like the LA Phil and the Hollywood Bowl), it wound up being the
dissolution of the Pasadena Pops, with the entire summer season going to
members of the Pasadena Symphony.
