I. REACTION TO “NINE MINUTES”

RE: 9 minutes

Hi Editor!

Very funny… Some time ago Pres. Acosta went
to see the Burbank Symphony and his comment
was “they were really good for a community
orchestra”.

Guess someone had to point out to him that
nearly all of the players are Local 47
members. Just no one he knows! LOL

No wonder someone was sent over to
“rally the troops”…(acknowledge
their existence).

[EC: Acosta has no respect for anyone he
doesn’t know. and what a condescending
remark about the Burbank Phil. Typical
Ignorance and arrogance from Acosta.]

II. 35

What does 35 mean besides the obvious?
That’s the number of films recorded on
AFM contracts last year. You read right,
only 35 were recorded AFM last year,
a thin shadow of what it used to be.

So few films, such a small amount of pension
and HandW contributions.

And you know exactly who to thank, don’t you?

The IEB knows, Local 47 and John Acosta know
exactly why it’s so few films and why our pension
is in such dire straits.

Lots of folks drawing on the pension with so little
coming in because the work has been exported,
and meanwhile even Brussels is now recording
film and TV.

So few musicians are recording regularly now that
ensemble quality has deteriorated. Many composers
have noticed and prefer recording elsewhere even
when they can get union contracts.

We’re told it is infinitely easier to deal with ANYONE
other than the afm.

Why don’t you call the AFM, Local 47 thank them for
the destruction of our industry and burying their heads
rather tell the RMA to hit the road.

The AFM has become a joke and we’re all
paying the price for it.
