RMALA ANNOUNCES ELECTION – WITH SIX DAYS NOTICE

RMALA ANNOUNCES ELECTION – WITH SIX DAYS NOTICE

This Monday, November 19th, the RMALA will be having their bi-annual election. Announcing their elections has in the past been merely a formality, since the RMALA Board chooses the candidates, one per position, announces them at the membership meeting and expects everyone to simply re-nominate the boards’ choices. Not so much an election as a coronation.

Until this time.

For the first time in our recollection there are actually two people running for the Presidency of the RMALA. Also, for the first time, the RMALA election will be done by secret ballot. The rest of the slots are unopposed as of this printing.

DARIUS CAMPO RUNS FOR RMALA PRESIDENCY

Long time Local 47/RMALA violinist DARIUS CAMPO has announced his candidacy for President of the RMALA, running against the RMALA Board approved choice of Pete Anthony.

Since the quorum for an RMALA meeting is thirty, it only takes sixteen members to elect their candidate roster, assuming there are actually choices to be made.

MR. CAMPO INTERVIEWED BY FILM MUSIC MAGAZINE

This past Tuesday, Darius Campo recorded an interview with Film Music Magazine’s Mark Northam.

You can hear the half-hour interview here:

Pete Anthony declined to be interviewed by the magazine.

If you are an RMALA member, you should make time to attend this meeting
Monday, November 19th at 7pm.

Location:
IATSE Local 80 building, 2520 West Olive Avenue in Burban

We do not endorse either candidate, but it’s great to see that at least part of the RMALA election process involves a choice.

UNTIL NEXT TIME

THE COMMITTEE FOR A MORE RESPONSIBLE LOCAL 47.
