I. FRANK CAPP PASSES<\/p>\n
Frank Capp, a flexible and consistently swinging drummer
\nwho loved nothing more than driving a big band, has passed.<\/p>\n
As leader of the Juggernaut (a group he co-led with Nat Pierce
\nstarting in 1975, until the pianist’s death in 1992), he got to
\npush and inspire some of Los Angeles’ best.
\nCapp found his initial fame playing with Stan Kenton’s
\nOrchestra (1951). Two years later, he settled in Los
\nAngeles; became a busy studio musician; and played
\nwith everyone from Ella Fitzgerald, Harry James, and
\nCharlie Barnet to Stan Getz, Art Pepper, and Dave Pell.<\/p>\n

II. MEMORIAL FOR MAURICE GRANT<\/p>\n
Recently we lost a dear colleague, cellist Maurice
\nGrant. The large turnout at his funeral was a
\ntestament to his popularity and talent.<\/p>\n
Maurice’s memorial will be\u00a0on Monday\u00a0evening,
\nSeptember 25th at 6:30\u00a0at the
\nCongregational Church of the Chimes,
\n14115 W. Magnolia Blvd. in Sherman Oaks.<\/p>\n
Participation, musical or otherwise, is welcome.

III. MEMBER COMMENTS<\/p>\n
just like in 2008, i can still get a better sound than
\nOboist ***** ******** by putting my hand over
\nthe end of my Electrolux hose. and no longer being
\na member of the RMA or local 47, i can say
\nthis with impunity. what fun !<\/p>\n

\nthan you by playing on his ocarina. Sorry you
\nhad to leave the business and move to the WA
