Alameda Building is off the table again.<\/p>\n
Greetings Colleagues,<\/p>\n
Well, once again the Alameda Building is off the table, this time
\nfor good it would seem.<\/p>\n
Our building has been sold and on Thursday surveyors were
\non the property taking measurements.<\/p>\n
According to reliable sources, we’ll be able to rent back the
\nbuilding for $1 a month for the next 8-9 months. After that?
\nIf we do not find a building, it’ll be store front time, unless
\nwe can extend the dollar deal.<\/p>\n
Our iconic building is gone.<\/p>\n

BRATISLAVA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA<\/p>\n
Destiny had it all worked out. The acronyms of the Bratislava
\nSymphony Orchestra – BSO – made it inevitable that it would turn into
\none of the most sought after European orchestras in Spain for
\nrecording film soundtracks. It suffices to mention their “sounding” role
\nin films such as:
\n“800 Balas” (800 Bullets) by Roque Ba\u0116os;
\n“En la Ciudad sin L\u00edmites” (In the city without limits) by Victor Reyes (both
\nnominated for the prestigious Spanish film awards – The Goya – in the
\ncategory of best soundtrack for 2002);
\n“Al Sur de Granada” (South of Granada), by Juan Bardem (winner of the
\nGoya award as best soundtrack for 2003);
\n“Hotel Danubio” (Hotel Danube), by Pablo Cervantes, or “Los Reyes Magos”
\n(The three kings), by Jos\u00e9 Battaglio and Kaelo del R\u00edo.<\/p>\n
The Bratislava Symphony Orchestra may well be one of the most versatile
\norchestras around, since besides its obvious dedication to the classical
\nrepertoire, it also dedicates an important part of its activities to playing
\nand recording styles as different as music for cinema, pop, copla, or
\nmusic for video games. A peculiarity that contrasts with this stylistic
\nand cultural variety to which BSO has become dedicated is the fact
\nthat all of its musicians are Slovak.<\/p>\n
Slovakia is also one of the countries which have recently joined the
\nEuropean Union, a fact which will likely maintain and possibly
\nincrease the musical demand on the city and the activities of the
\nBratislava Symphony Orchestra.<\/p>\n
The availability of Spanish orchestras for recording film music is
\npractically nonexistent. The reasons for this situation are many, but
\nthe fact is that it forces Spanish composers of film soundtracks to
\nlook for orchestras abroad and carry out their recordings thousands of
\nmiles from away. David Hernando is very well acquainted with this
\nsituation; he sums it up as follows: “I think the main reason why
\ncomposers seek to record outside of Spain is in the quality and
\nexperience that foreign orchestras such as the BSO can offer. This
\ndoesn’t mean that Spain has no quality orchestras, but it’s rather a
\ntradition that has become lost with time. After the Spanish civil war
\nthere were several orchestras in Madrid that were dedicated to this
\ntype of work, but with time they disappeared. <\/p>\n

The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra<\/p>\n
The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra are an exclusive
\nrecording orchestra comprising of the cream of musicians from
\nthe various Czech orchestras, including many from the world

\nA few times each year, ASMAC takes the time to highlight two of our outstanding members \u2013 composers, arrangers, orchestrators \u2013 individuals who have created works in any single or multiple arenas.\u00a0 This May, we honor two highly talented and respected individuals\u00a0who have also served as Board Members of ASMAC.<\/p>\n
DUANE TATRO
\nhas composed extensively for television and film as well as writing live concert media works for orchestra, wind ensemble, chamber ensembles, and electronic instruments. In his early career, he worked professionally as an instrumentalist; playing clarinet, saxophone and bassoon.<\/p>\n
His film and television credits include: Hotel, Dynasty, Loveboat, Matt Houston, Glitter, Hawaii Five-O, Barnaby Jones, Tales of the Unexpected, Most Wanted, Super Star, Manhunter, Cannon, Streets of San Francisco, Cades County, M.A.S.H., Mission Impossible, Mannix, Australia, A Timeless Land, and many Movies of the Week.<\/p>\n
Mr. Tatro has participated in Meet the Composer programs at both San Diego and New Mexico State Universities, where he lectured on 20th Century music and composing for films.<\/p>\n
His few of his concert works include:<\/p>\n
\u201cConcerto for Amp. Guitar and Chamber Orchestra\u201d, which premiered at Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History (1977), Charles Blackman, Conductor.<\/p>\n
\u201cSerenade and Aubade\u201d, for string orchestra, premiered (1981), Southeast Symphony, Charles Blackman, Conductor.<\/p>\n
\u201cTuba Quartet\u201d, (1989) performed by the Los Angeles Tuba Quartet.<\/p>\n
\u201cFantasia\u201d, for concert band, premiered at the Society of Composers, Inc. Conference, University of Hawaii (1999), Grant Okamura, Director, \u201cUntitled Lament\u201d for Mixed Chorus and Chamber Orchestra (1999).<\/p>\n
\u201cCapriccio\u201d for flute, viola, harp (2000)<\/p>\n
Mr. Tatro studied with composers Arthur\u00a0Honegger, Darius Mihaud, Halsey Stevens, and George Tremblay. He received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Southern California, with additional studies in Paris France. He is listed in the International Who\u2019s Who in Music (1975), the Encyclopedia of Jazz (1955), and the Dictionary of International Biography (1976).<\/p>\n
On May 18th we will also be bringing out the birthday cake for Duane – as he celebrates his 90th birthday with us!!!<\/p>\n

GLENN JORDAN
\nis an award winning songwriter, composer, producer, singer and performer whose music is heard every day by millions of people.\u2028\u2028Glenn\u2019s credits as a composer include scoring and providing music for over a thousand episodes of television programs and films in the last 15 years, including The X-files, Millennium, Biography, Doug, 101 Dalmatians, Catdog and Something About Mary.\u00a0 As composer\/musical director of Pee-wee\u2019s Playhouse, Glenn was nominated for 4 Emmys and won the Emmy Award in 1991.\u00a0 As composer on Audubon\u2019s Animal Adventure\u2019s he won the Genesis Award in 1996 in recognition of his work to increase awareness of the plight of endangered species.\u2028\u2028He scored 9 feature length documentary films for Enduring Freedom Productions over the last 5 years. \u00a0 The latest 4 are\u00a0Betty White: Champion for Animals,\u00a0The Clintons: An American Odyssey, The Reagan Legacy,\u00a0and\u00a0JFK Remembered: 50 Years Later\u00a0for Warner Brothers.\u2028\u2028As a former member of the group Sha Na Na he toured the world, and performed for audiences as large as 135,000 people.\u2028\u2028His orchestral works have been performed by the Indianapolis and Denver symphonies. His theme park commissions includes \u201cSupersonic Flight\u201d for Six Flags\/Great Adventures and \u201cInteractive Wonderland\u201d part of the \u201cSpaceship Earth\u201d attraction at Epcot.\u2028\u2028Glenn is one of only 9 people in the world who is qualified and licensed to teach The Equal Interval System of Music Composition created by Lyle \u201cSpud\u201d Murphy.

Russell Garcia:\u00a0\u00a0 Russell wrote his auto-biography

\nbefore he passed away at age 95 in New Zealand,

Russell was a world renowned composer-arranger-conductor
\nwho wrote music for over 100 films.\u00a0 He is known for his
\ninnovative music score for the film \u201cTime Machine\u201d.\u00a0 Garcia
\nis also known in both the TV and recording fields and has
\ncomposed music for countless TV shows such as, Rawhide,
\nTwilight Zone, Laredo, The Virginian.\u00a0 He has recorded many
\nCDs\u00a0 in his own right, as well as with stars such as, Louis
\nArmstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Vic Damone, Judy Garland,
\nOscar Peterson, Julie London, to name a few.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Garcia has also written 2 best-selling text books The Professional
\nArranger-Composer \u201c Book I and Book II, which have been translated
