According to federal law, the local must keep the ballots from
\nthe referendum for 4 years (According to our legal person).<\/p>\n
However, though the Local told the membership that they
\nhad 1000-2000 extra ballots printed, those ballots have
\nnot been accounted for.<\/p>\n
The number of ballots used for re-sends and re-votes
\ndoesn’t come anywhere near close to the number printed,
\nand they have not been cataloged with the bulk of the
\nused ballots.<\/p>\n
So where are they? Who has them?<\/p>\n

The American Society of Music Arrangers and Composers
\n(ASMAC) is proud to present<\/p>\n
\u201cFirst Wednesdays\u201d, a new monthly tradition now hosted by
\nLocal 47 for it\u2019s members. On the first Wednesday evening
\nof each month, ASMAC will produce a new event featuring
\nvarious topics of interest for music arrangers and composers
\nstarting March 2nd with The Art of Music Preparation(pt2)<\/p>\n
The Art of Music Preparation (pt.2) will feature Ross deRoche,
\nLiz Finch, Kim Richmond, Jim Ciancaglini. Join us for a special
\nand informative event with a panel of expert music copyists
\nwho will discuss how to make the most out of a musician\u2019s
\nperformance by providing the best possible manuscript.<\/p>\n
Thoughtful music preparation saves time and money at
\nrecording sessions and rehearsals. Topics will include
\nimportant tips for orchestration, notation rules, computer
\nnotation, part layout, binding, preparing midi for orchestration,
\nproofreading, various careers in music preparation, budgets,
\nand much more. Refine your skills as an orchestrator, composer
\nand music copyist by attending this once in a lifetime event.
\nWe will have a Q&A between attendees and panelists.
\nTechnical questions about Finale and Sibelius will be included.<\/p>\n

\nknown as \u201cthe girl\u201d at a time when there were very few women
\nin the profession. With the move to more digital music production,
\nshe has also served as an orchestrator for many films with composers
\nsuch as Hans Zimmer, John Powell, and Steve Jablonsky <\/p>\n

\nThe Humboldt State University Symphonic Band will
\nfeature my latest work for band, the Poseidon Overture,
\nin concert at Fulkerson Recital Hall. The performance
\nwill take place this coming Saturday, February 27th at 8:00.<\/p>\n
This work was composed last year specifically for the HSU
\nBand. It is an energetic and tuneful \u201cold-style\u201d piece, with
\nlots of action for all sections of the band. Although
\noriginally written for a smaller ensemble, the growth
\nof the band has necessitated addition of a few more
\ninstruments. <\/p>\n
Other works on the program are by Aaron Copland,
\nPercy Grainger, William Schuman and John Mackey.<\/p>\n

The 18th Annual\u00a0West Coast Composer’s Forum Concert<\/p>\n
It’s been 18 years ago since a group of like-minded
\ncomposers got the idea to all write for the same ensemble
\nand then put on a concert.<\/p>\n
Since then we have produced a concert just about every
\nyear, we have had dozens of composers participate, and
\nwe have had some very interesting ensembles, one of
\nthe more notable being: six saxophones (sopranino,
\nsoprano, alto, tenor. baritone, bass)
\nand orchestral harp. CD’s are still available.<\/p>\n
This year is the first concert where the composers will
\nalso be the performers. it\u00a0also happens that the
\ninstrumentation is as strange

The Los Angeles City Elementary Schools Music Association,
\nLACESMA, is celebrating its 75th Anniversary of promoting
\nelementary music education in LAUSD with a Gala Event in
\nthe Grand Ballroom of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at
\nthe Los Angeles Music Center on Sunday May 15, 2016.<\/p>\n
