I. – THREE CONSUMMATE PROFESSIONALS OF OUR INDUSTRY PASS
\nJACK FEIERMAN, JIMMIE HASKELL and RAY COLCORD<\/p>\n
In the last few weeks we’ve lost Jack Feierman,
\nJimmie Haskell and most recently Ray Colcord. <\/p>\n
They were all consummate professionals, great talents
\nand wonderful people as well.<\/p>\n
RAY COLCORD<\/p>\n
Ray Colcord, a former president of the Society of Composers & Lyricists
\nand prolific television composer behind the scores for such shows as 227,
\nThe Facts Of Life, and more died February 5 following a battle with
\npancreatic cancer. He was 66<\/p>\n
Born in New York City in 1949, Colcord attended Rice University and
\ngot his start in music as a touring musician in Texas. He also worked
\nas an A&R executive for Columbia Records, and was responsible for
\ngetting the rock band Aerosmith signed to the lable. He would later
\nserve as a producer on their second album. He became music
\ndirector for The Groundlings in 1976, composed all of the comedy
\ntroupe\u2019s music during his tenure, and won a Drama-Logue Award
\nin 1985. That same year he began scoring for broadcast network
\ntelevision shows, though his first foray into TV was in 1982,
\nfor A&E\u2019s An Evening at the Improv.<\/p>\n
Among the other television series he worked on were Family Affair,
\nBig Brother, Dinosaurs, and episode of The Simpsons, My Two Dads,
\nand Silver Spoons. <\/p>\n
He also wrote music for several films, including \u201cI Like \u2018Em
\nBig And Stupid\u201d for the Earth Girls Are Easy soundtrack
\n and \u201cBouzouki Trella\u201d for Lara Croft Tomb Raider:
\nThe Cradle of Life, as well as several tv movies and specials.<\/p>\n
