I. CELLIST LARRY CORBETT PASSES AWAY AT 54
Our community has suffered another loss. Cellist Larry Corbett,
who has been described by a friend as, “Someone whom everyone
liked”, has passed away at 54. We’re hearing that it was a heart
attack but be must stress that it has not been confirmed.
He was well known in all areas of our business: Films (Inside Man,
House of D, Wall-E, Pineapple Express among many, many others);
Records (John Legend; Earth, Wind and Fire; Natalie Cole; Michael
Feinstein; Thomas Newman, Beck, Wynonna Judd, Tim McGraw,
Fergie among others.
He was also active in live chamber and orchestral music.
Larry will be dearly missed.
When we get info on a service, we will let you know.

I. RMA OPERATIVES TAKE OFFICERS JOBS IN NASHVILLE
Another Local falls to RMA officer control, this time
NASHVILLE. See comments below.
As to Los Angeles, in our last election two years ago we
were told by many members that, considering the misdeeds
of the Espinosa Administration, they thought Presidential
Candidate David Schubah was a shoe-in, and didn’t bother
to vote.
The Result? Hal Espinosa was re-elected.
This time we were told they didn’t see a point in voting
since so few positions were up for grabs.
The result? The only independent voice on our Local 47 board,
Dr. Bobby Rodriquez, lost his board position to an RMA ally.
As of this writing, short of someone on the board experiencing
an epiphany, our Local 47 board will be a rubberstamp for the
RMA. The one possible exception is new VP John Accosta. Time
will tell.
The lesson?:
Voting is NEVER pointless and inaction has as much of a price
as action does.
In his recent mailing to the membership, newly elected president
Vince Trombetta vowed to serve ALL members. We will soon see, and
will be more than happy to give credit where it is due.
If the Federation membership remains so apathetic, we will see
our federation, all 70,000 members, pay the price for remaining
silent as our federation is dismantled by selfishness and solely
self-interested 1000+ recording musicians.
If they are allowed to succeed, we will have only ourselves
to blame.

CORRECTION: Our last mailing mentioned the AFM OBSERVER.
While there is a blog called the AFM Observer and it is
typically PRO-RMA and ANTI-AFM, we were actually referring
to a blog called AFM REALITY CHECK. We apologize for any
confusion.
I. TIME TO EARN THE LOCAL YOU WANT!
The RMA must be worried about change coming to our Local.
For the first time they are holding an election night party across
the street from the Local to get more of their group to show.
This makes it all the more imperative that you come out and
do your duty as a Local 47 member. Please VOTE at the Local
between 9 am and 9pm, 817 Vine Street, on December 9th!
Vote for only those who’ve earned your support! You do not have
to use all your votes. In fact, in a race with several winners,
as in the Board, every vote you do not really stand behind
negates the ones you do.
Also, if you don’t appreciate the President-to-be Vince Trombetta
hiring a non-union company to refurbish the Local 47 Auditorium
(Talk about anti-union), don’t reward him or the other officers
with a vote. Leaving it blank sends a message.
WE STRONGLY ENDORSE:
DR. BOBBY RODRIGUEZ for DIRECTOR AND DELEGATE
CHARLES FERNANDEZ FOR DIRECTOR
RON HESS FOR DIRECTOR AND DELEGATE
IRA NEPUS FOR DIRECTOR
